It is not clear (enough) that the note below formula 8.4.3-7 also applies to 8.4.3 a) and 8.4.3 c). One could guess that the note is applicable for the whole of 8.4.3. In that case the paragraph can be simplified by only using formula 8.4.3-7 and stating that fb <= fs and fpl <= fs.
Figure 8.4.3-1 and 8.4.3-2 are the same. Probably the reinforcement plate and related dimensions should have been deleted from 8.4.3-1.
